What is Free Savings Protection?
We provide free life insurance based on your credit union savings balance, one of the unique benefits of credit union membership. This means that in the event of your death your credit union savings will be paid out to your nominated beneficiary PLUS potentially the same amount again from the free insurance.
This insurance is underwritten by CUNA Mutual and is subject to certain age and health restrictions:
Age 16 to 64 - 100% of savings benefit
Age 65 to 79 - 25% of savings benefit
Age 80 plus - Nil benefit
Maximum benefit is £5,000
No benefit will be paid out if death occurs as a result of a Pre-Existing Condition - an illness or injury for which you have received medical advice, consultation or treatment within 6 months prior to the deposit. Nor would any benefit be paid out in the event of suicide occurring within 6 months of a deposit being made. Other exclusions may apply, please ask for further policy details if required.
